Oath-Bound (Masters of the Storm, Book VI)

The conclusion to the Masters of the Storm series finds High commander Ryken recovering from a critical wound he received from a demon. For the first time in his life, his recuperation has left him with no responsibilities, even as the kingdom remains threatened by a barbarian sorcerer. While Cragor, Ryken's second-in-command, leads the warriors both in battling demons and in searching for the missing sorcerer, Ryken becomes uncomfortably aware of an unbidden yearning to leave the warrior class.

As Ryken struggles to come to terms with his secret desire that is totally at odds with his oath-bound duty to the Covenant, the arch mage reveals to Ryken that not only did he father children with Ravenwynd, a witch in another realm, but those children are spoken of in a prophecy as the key to defeating the sorcerer.

When the arch mage kidnaps the children from their home so they can fulfill the prophecy and hopefully save Kildaga, Ryken is faced with the hardest decision of his life, pitting his newfound desire to safeguard his children against his sworn duty to the Covenant.
