Magic-Bound (Masters of the Storm, Book III)

Magic-Bound (Masters of the Storm, Book III)

In the darkest hour before the dawn
When the storms are new and the magic is gone
When in the night the seers scream
From images seen within their dreams

Kingdoms will rally and march off to war
With warriors and mages on two and on four

Fidelity to oaths will be tested
As control of the seat is wrested
And she who sees what isn’t there
Will hasten the return of magic’s heir

-Kildagan Nursery Rhyme

When a young shaman is pursued by a ruthless corporation seeking to control the boy's ability to affect the weather, he and his sister travel through a portal to their father's magical realm of Kwagl with their would-be kidnappers on their heels. Once there Arak again begins to succumb to the addictive effects of his magic, terrifying both his sister and his would-be abductors. By the time Darakin and Nora are able to follow their children, the arch mage has already learned of Arak's presence and dispatched a group of warriors to capture the boy.
However, even as High Commander Ryken heads out in pursuit of Arak, he is acutely aware that the arch mage means to use the boy to help him seize control over all of the world's Elemental magic, an action that would plunge Kwagl into a world war. Ryken's loyalty to his sworn oath will be tested as he attempts to follow his orders, stop a war, and keep his own men safe.
